If you are reading this page it is most likely because you are new to IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and you were sent here by one of the channel operators (those people with the funny hat @ beside their names)from the 50&beyond chat room (channel). The purpose of this site is to give you information to help you make the most of your time in IRC.
Many of you will have arrived in IRC through ICQ and may not realize that you are now in a completely different network. There are many IRC networks with IrCQ (ICQ's IRC network) being only one of them. How you arrived is really not important, at least for now, as all IRC networks share some things in common. One of those things is a basic command structure. There are minor variations between some networks but by and large they all have similar commands. In IRC there are a number of commands that are useful to know and a few that are absolutely essential.
On the following pages you will find an explanation of those commands, what they are for and how to use them. You will also find links to different software that if used will greatly enhance your stay in IRC.
