The CBC has been holding this contest for the past couple of months asking people to nominate who they thought was Canada’s Greatest Canadian of all time. There were some ridiculous suggestions, not the least being Don Cherry. I am gratified to see that Tommy Douglas ended up winning.

Sadly today Canada lost a great Canadian, Pierre Burton. Berton is the author of many books, most on Canada, died today at age 84. He was a passionate Canadian and a fine journalist.
