US missile defence test delayed
I swear I don’t make this stuff up. There’s really no need to the ineptness (I’m being polite here) of the government makes flights of fancy unnecessary.
Bad weather has for two days running forced the US military to delay the first full flight test of its national missile defence system in two years.
Friday’s postponement was caused by heavy rain over the central Pacific Ocean, said a spokesman for the Pentagon’s Missile Defence Agency.
The missile defence system, being built in Alaska, is designed to track and intercept long range missiles.
The Pentagon is spending $10bn a year on the project.
The goal, announced by US President George W Bush in 2002, was to have a basic ground-based shield in place by the end of this year.
Will somebody please send this to Paul Martin. Paul listen, this system has NEVER worked, most reputable scientists have said given our current technology it will NEVER work. This is a pork barrel scam to feed money to the companies involved, all of whom contributed heavily to Bush’s re-election campaign, at the taxpayer’s expense. Paul, I really don’t care all that much if our friends to the south have their pockets raided to build this farce (if I thought it would work I would be opposing it for other reasons). That’s their fault for re-electing Bozo the Clown Jr.. However, I am greatly incensed by the thought of my Canadian taxpayer dollars going to reward Bozo’s campaign contributors, and at the same time making Canada less secure by supporting any American defence initiative (fyi: it makes all those people out there that hate America now hate Canada too as being a partner of Bozo and Co.). Paul, tell me, just where do you think all those shot down missles (assuming they can get this to work) with their radiocative cargo are going to land? Give up? Right, well Paul they’re going to land right here in Canada and once more we’ll be the dumping ground for US mistakes. You’re out of your fisking mind Paul if you go ahead with this.
At the end of the article quoted it says that of 8 missles fired so far in tests, 5 have hit their targets. What they forgot to mention is that they basically had to kill all the incoming missles’ defences and paint a big electronic target on them so the interceptors could find them and even then they only succeeded 62% of the time.
So all you Axis of Evil countries and sundry terrorist groups that are planning to launch nukes at the US please note, send them during a rain storm; they won’t be able to launch their “Star Wars” defences.

Maybe if we draw the pictures with crayons and use stick people they’ll understand.

what I’m hoping is that Ottawa is cannily stringing Washington along. I’m often overly optimistic, though.
Do we need to draw pictures of the projected flight paths, do you think?
