I’m really sorry he lost, too. The $50m (US) spent on the inaugural party is just as, maybe more, depressing, for me. This article is from the Guardian:

He better watch out. Athiests are now considered the new traitor, right up there with eco-terrorists. Our own local representative just called all liberals (people who didn’t vote for Bush or support the war) on a pirated broadcast on tv prime time of a taped talk radio show — there was supposed to be Wall Street Weekly there in its place: leftists, liberals, critics of our president, traitors, godless, making America unsafe, without moral values, the cause of the downfall of American culture and society as we know it, oppressive for ramming their godless theories down our Christians’ throats, and I’m sick and tired of it, and I’m not going to take it anymore, and we need to put God back in the Government where He belongs, and those people just need to shut up, etc., etc….

I almost choked on my chicken pot pie.

This, from a formerly soft-spoken, mild-mannered, subdued, mealy-mouth, bland candidate, with no opinion someone else didn’t give him, and I can only assume he has been given the memo from the White House on the preferred mantra to chant to anyone who will listen and respond with a resounding “Amen, brother!”

I am an Athiest, but you didn’t hear me say it. And, I was never here.
