Slip sliding away
I’ve started my trail hikes again but they are treacherous. I don’t have proper footwear for icy trails (the snow is too hard packed for snowshoes to be any fun). Last Sunday I took Bear Bait out for walk and tried out Larry’s Loop. It was pretty good except for one short stretch that was icy. What a difference a weik makes, this week the last third of the trail would have been negotiated better with ice skates. As a result I took a few spills but emerged unscathed. A trail that would normally take 45 minutes to walk took 90 and left me quite out of breath just from fighting the ice. Oh well a bonus for the day was seeing my first female red shafted flicker of the year.
