Tragedy

30 August, 2005 (18:55) | Sociology

That’s the only word to describe the devastation left behind hurricane Katrina. Whole towns and villages apparantly wiped off the map, probably for ever. Others damaged such that itwill be years before they can be restored, assuming that further hurricanes of equal or greater strength do not come along in the meantime and finish Katrina’s job. This is America’s tsunami and I can not help but wonder if those countries that the US stepped up to help last Christmas when the tsunami struck them will in turn step forward with at least a symbolic gesture of help. My heart goes out to those affected by this tragedy and in particular to those that have lost loved ones and loved pets.

Hi Doug,

Outstanding sentiment !!

Too much of the world is all too ready to receive without ever considering that the givers may have needs too. Even the smallest, heartfelt note of condolences would be of inestimable value.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that it’s going to happen. I’d love to be wrong.

Your commentary just might be as good as it gets.

All the more to your credit.

Cheers,

Allan.

My heart goes out to those people - not to mention the LA National Guard troops who are in Iraq, no doubt watching on television as their beloved home is being destroyed - and being powerless to help. Heartbreaking.
