The Value of a Drink

30 April, 2006 (19:44) | Humor, Quotable | No comments

“Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams . If I didn’t drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams [...]

Bush on fuel price gouging

26 April, 2006 (18:26) | Humor, Political | No comments

I’ve had to file this under humour as well as politics because the idea that Bush would do anything, anything to upset his friends in the oil busines is laughable at best. It’s not just an empty gesture, it’s the equivalent of sheep investigating the presence of wolves among them.

Dishonour and Secrecy

“What is the prime minister trying to hide by dishonoring fallen soldiers?” Jack Layton, leader of the NDP

“Mr. Bush instituted the policy of not allowing the caskets to be open to the media, and now Mr. Harper has lifted a page from George Bush’s book… This is absolutely unacceptable and un-Canadian. You don’t build [...]

Well I knew this was going to happen with Bush lite in the PM’s seat in Ottawa. The Canadian neo-cons sold out Canada’s lumber industry. Despite the fact that we have won almost every NAFTA and WTO case related to this dispute Harper and his Conservatives are agreeing to roll over and [...]

Fun science site

24 April, 2006 (17:43) | Science | No comments

Check out World Science a site that publishes some of the more unusual, but still serious, scientific articles. I discovered them quite by happenstance a few weeks ago and I like them well enough to add them to my permalinks on the right.

You must be…

21 April, 2006 (07:06) | Humor, Political | No comments

A woman in a hot air balloon realized that she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted out to him, “Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend that I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am!”
The man [...]
