Arriba!
I drove up to Kelowna (4 hours) on Friday for our company’s annual summer BBQ, held at the company president’s house right on Okanagan Lake. Unfrotunately Diane was not able to come with me due to back problems. Most of the people I work with I seldom meet in person as I work from my home office 350km away so these get-togethers are important.
A few months ago one of our customers, in Mexico, sent me a bottle of very special tequila.

This is a well aged 100% pure Agave tequila. It is so smooth it is like drinking a fine sherry. It’s the tequila equivalent of a limited production estate wine. I don’t know how much it is worth as this particular brand is not available in Canada however another 100% agave tequila that is available here in BC is about $175 CDN a bottle so I assume this one would be similarly priced.

The picture above is a group of us sampling the tequila. From left to right are Jodie (provisioning), Brian (VP- Sales, owner), Tim (President, owner), Neil (provisioning), Me, Randall (General Manager and songwriter/guitarist for the west coast indie band Ten2Nine), Craig (Technical Services Manager - head networking honcho.)
The party was on Saturday, Sunday reminded me why I only do this once a year
- 2 beers
- 2 double Pina Coladas
- 3 ounces Tequila
- 2 Bailey’s/Vodka shooters
- 1 double Cuba Libre
left me less than my best on Sunday

Well keep in mind that was over about a 10 hour period
None of the ladies wanted to participate
The person holding the bottle in the first picture is Penny, our billing manager but I couldn’t talk her into trying it. The other two ladies in the company, Ira (our main programmer) amd Leah (our receptionist and billing person) didn’t want to participate either.
Yes the tequila was great. I still have some left and diane and I are going to sample it this afternoon along with some lime/ginger sorbet she mace that is exquisite.
