Some People’s Kids
Across the street from where I live there’s an old apartment block, three stories high. Yesterday morning at the ungodly hour of 6am a roofing crew showed up to start the process of replacing the tar and gravel roof. Well rossland has a 6am noise bylaw and I norkally get up at 6:15am so I guess I couldn’t complain too much about the noise. This morning they showed up at 4am and started shoulting at each other, banging ladders etc, making one hell of a racket. The final straw was when they started up the big propane burners to melt the tar. The house i live in was built in 1910 by a lumber baron. You could not get a more solidly built house. The noise level was deafening but worse yet the house was actually shaking. I got up, got dressed and went out front and chewed them out. I’m afraid my language was a little less than polite. This afternoon after work I went over to the neighbour’s house to see their new baby and apologize for my shouting and course language but before I could Deneane asked me if that was me at 4:30 chewing the @ssh@ts out. I said yes and she immediateluy high fived me
As it turns out they woke the baby up and she was going to go out and do what I did as soon a she got him settled down again. Adding insult to injury she went over to talk to them this afternoon and said to them that now that they knew about out noise by-law (they are from out of town) she was certain we could count on them to be quiet at leasty until 6am tomorrow right? Hah - the worker she was talking to said that was up to the foreman. Zero empathy for the people they were disturbing - no understanding that by-laws pre-empt your company’s concerns andapparantly unable to understand why everyone was pissed of with them. After all they were only trying to get the hot job done before the heat of the day. Well bucko you chose this job and if you can’t stand the heat get off the roof (sorry it was too obvious). If you wake me up again tomorrow before 6 am I won’t be coming out to yell at you I’ll be picking up my cell phone and dialling 911 and you can deal with the RCMP you @ssh@t.

Make a videotape and give it to the police, they’ll thank you for it and a signed statement. The company will get a big fat fine AND no ‘plausible deniability’ in court. F em. F em early and often.

Getting your sleep interruped and your home invaded by ugly noise is no fun at all.
Sorry you are going through it, handsome.
