A Bush legacy

16 November, 2006 (16:09) | Political, Sociology

What follows is not pretty. It shows an attitude that has filtered down from the top Rethuglicans to those in power at lower echelons.

At question here is how they treated a student being asked to leave a university library. First they tasered him then when he couldn’t stand up they kept telling him to stand and then tasering him again. The whole thing was filmed on a phone camera and uploaded to youtube. When students confronted the guards over their behavior and demanded their identities they too were threatened with being tasered.

This is the mentality of the Patriot Act. It is irrelevant that they had a legitimate reason to ask him to leave the library (insufficient ID). They had him cuffed and on the ground and continued to taser him and that is an abuse of power and authority. Threatening the students who were asking legitimate questions is right in line with the Bush regime’s method of tagging questioners as unamerican or traitors as well as the lust for power among the right wing.
