Fundy Fatuity

9 January, 2007 (18:58) | Religion

There is a burgeoning, if not full blown, obesity problem among North American children. Here in BC, despite living in a thinly populated natural paradise, the problem exists as elsewhere. The city of Quesnel, (a northern city in BC pop. 11,000) is trying to do something about it through their schools. Children simply are not getting enough exercise so the schools started yoga classes for them. Can you see it coming? Read the title of the post again if not ;)

Yup, that’s right. Some local fundy Christians are up in arms saying that yoga is a religion. Heck, to offer proof of this one says:

Chelsea Brears, who has two children in the school system, said her son was asked to do different poses and “to put his hands together.”

It boggles the mind, it truly does. People this stupid should be scorned, laughed at, and humiliated in public whenever they try and foist their silly beliefs off on the rest of us.

Give me a little link love would ya ;):

Unbelievable! And yet, so typically ridiculous… It’s just more business as usual (or should that be “business unusual”?) for those wacky funny-de-mentalists.

Sad, so very sad, and so ignorant. I’m losing faith in this world as it is.

I bought a Wii to combat my obesity! No doubt the men and women with pitchforks and torches are en route as I type.

That said, Yoga, aside from its current incarnation as a series of postures, poses and stretches, does have its roots in ‘chakras’, which is a Hindu invention. Their complaint however would preclude any type of Christian martial art so…
