France and England

An interesting document came to life recently. It appears that in 1956 Prime Minister Guy Mollet of France put forth a proposition to Sir Anthony Eden,then Prime Minister of Great Britain, that the two countries form a union and/or that France join the commonwealth.

Wow - too bad Eden didn’t go for it. That would surely piss of the pure laine Québécois séparatistes ;-)

pure laine literally translated means pure wool but is used in Quebec to denote those who can trace their ancestry directly back to France
