This blog is 5 years old today. Five years ~3500 posts and ~3100 comments. In all that time I haven’t seemed to grow my readership at all. Still about 20 to 30 visits a day LOL – it would be nice to know how many only read it via syndication but as far as I know there’s no way to do that. When I look at my Sitemeter stats it seems to me that most hits here are from Google searches so maybe I really only have 4 or 5 regular readers [shrug] – np – I write this for my own amusement mostly anyways. Thanks for stopping by whoever you are.

Give me a little link love would ya ;):

Happy anniversary! Now go eat cake.

I think you’ll find a lot of people read via syndication.

Congrats! I get notification of your posts via NetNewsWire on the Mac, but I often come to the site just to read or watch the videos.

Always well worth it!!

Thanks for putting it up!

Gets beneath the flotsam.
Isn’t jetsam.
Keep on saying it.
For your own amusement of course.
If you don’t find yourself amusing you can’t expect it from others.

I’m another that usually reads from the feed, Doug. You can actually track your feed users by switching your feed to run through Feedburner. Since you already have an existing feed, youd’d need to follow the instructions to forward your existing feed to a new one set up through the Feedburner service.

I’m not a big fan of outsourcing basic functionality of my blog, but I’m looking at doing just this for myself and a couple of clients too.

Congratulations on the 5 years, Doug, from a regular reader in Germany. I mostly use the feed but come to the page to comment. I’m surprised at the numbers though, an experience almost the opposite of mine (although I supply a feed too). You 5 years, me 4 1/4, 3500 posts vs ca. 700, 30 daily vs. 1200 daily , 3100 comments vs. maybe 500 (I only allow comments via Email). I can offer no explanation, but ask you to keep up the good work :-)

Happy Belated Anniversary!! I read you by clicking on your name on my blogroll. No feeds, rss or otherwise.

Happy Anniversary. Yours is a great blog. I request an update of beautiful photographs from your area–you have a knack. I read everything on your blog every three or four days, scrolling down until overlap. It’s damn good stuff, and it adds to my life somehow. I’ve been enjoying the video clips that you have been incorporating. Rock on.
