Our girls prefer the ’sprinkle-on’ variety. One of our favorite entertainments is to make it gently ‘rain’ catnip on our cats. They spend about ten minutes licking it off, then do laps around the rooom… at 90 degrees normal (up walls, across ceiling, etc).
