The leadership and major corporate backers must be just about shitting themselves about now when contemplatingthe very real possibility that Huckabee could get the nomination. For several decades now the Rovian side of the GOP has cynically manipulated the , promising the world and never tithing but a tenth back to that demographic. Never in their wildest dreams did they ever expect that demographic to hijack the party, not as long as they had their tame preachers, the Pat Robertson’s et. al., of the world in their pocket. Ah but then they didn’t count on the stupidity of George W. Bush who has single handedly aliented the non fundamentalist base of the GOP to the point that no one who could possibly make a decent president (assuming any GOP could) would even consider running, and by doing so allowed the insane like Huckabee or to rise to the top

If or Paul wins the nomination expect it to take decades for the GOP to recover. If either wins the election the US will never, short of another civil war, recover.
