Thinking Positive
I think one of the most interesting, and least talked about, results of Super Tuesday was the evidence of the waning influence of conservative talk radio assh@ts like Rush , Glen and other . This was made obvious by the overwhelming support McCain got in most states. All those pundits have been doing their damnedest to destroy McCain and they failed and failed miserably. This is good. To me this means that the red base is coming to the realization of what Bush et. al. have done to the country. These so called pundits have done nothing but extol the wonderfulness of and his cabal for the last 7 years and now they are beginning to have to pay the price. It was a pure treat to flip through Fox last night and see them floundering trying to put some spin on it for their wonder boy Mitt. Oh they’ll get behind McCain when he’s eventually crowned but the damage has been done - they have been revealed as the phonies they are, and what we’ve always known them to be, to their former adoring fans.
I hope it is Obama that goes up against McCain. If anything can “heal” the fractures in the red zone it would be if Clinton were the Democratic candidate. No, that’s not my dislike for her coming through - if she’s the candidate I will certainly support her in whatever way I can - but just reality. The GOP base has a hate on for anything Clinton and always has. She is “damaged goods” and there is no hiding that.
If Obama is the then yes the will go into high gear but there is no where near the well to draw on there that there is with the Clintons. With Obama that thin veneer of pretend equality will thin even more and the suppressed racism that infuses the far right will bubble through. There are plenty of people in the who are just over the line from moderate and if is the candidate then the fractioning of the GOP will show up in the racist slurs against Obama and those “moderate” reds will react against that further fractioning the party.
Either or will do a good job as president (but not as good as Edwards would have), but Obama stands a better chance in the general election and that’s even more important. The number one priority is putting a democrat in the White House on January 20th 2009 and kicking George’s ass along with the ones belonging to the rest of the out of there.
