Carbon Neutral fuel

13 March, 2008 (19:01) | Environment

From Science Daily

has developed a low-risk, transformational concept, called ™, for large-scale production of carbon-neutral, sulfur-free fuels and organic chemicals from air and water.

If we are going to be able to get a handle on then we need to be honest with ourselves and admit we just are not going to readily or easily give up our cars any time in the foreseeable future. With that in mind this new technology is exactly the right answer. I’m absolutely blown away that it is possible to make “gasoline” out of CO2 and furthermore doing it by pulling the CO2 out of the atmosphere. Not only is the process green but even the facilities are.

Currently, the principal market for the Green Freedom production concept is fuel for vehicles and aircraft.

At the heart of the technology is a new process for and making it available for using a new form of electrochemical separation. By integrating this electrochemical process with existing technology, researchers have developed a new, practical approach to producing fuels and organic chemicals that permits continued use of existing industrial and transportation infrastructure. Fuel production is driven by carbon-neutral power

However enthusiasm is tempered with this report Carbon Output Must Near Zero To Avert Danger

The task of cutting greenhouse gas emissions enough to avert a dangerous rise in global temperatures may be far more difficult than previous research suggested, say scientists who have just published studies indicating that it would require the world to within a matter of decades.

Their findings, published in separate journals over the past few weeks, suggest that both industrialized and developing nations must wean themselves off fossil fuels by as early as mid-century in order to prevent warming that could change precipitation patterns and dry up sources of water worldwide.

As, while the is that just means it doesn’t increase the amount of in the atmosphere just balances production with use.
