As we careen towards a new Great depression, brought on by the likes of , , the , and the cowardly Democrats that let them get away with it, we should remember those brave souls who during the last depression and the following years, sounded the warning bells and rallied the downtrodden. Folksingers like Woody Guthry (This Land is Your Land), Harry McClintock (O Brother where Art Thou), and even crooners like Bing Crosby (Brother Can You Spare a Dime) - pretty much the anthem of the and Crosby made it the best selling record of the time.
. The musicians concisely and poetically laid out for the public the evils that befell America at the hands of rapacious . We need to remember them, not just for what they did then to raise the consciousness of the great unwashed but as role models for singers today. We need musicians today, regardless of their genre, who can get the message across to the American public of just how badly they are being screwed once again. Music is a very powerful medium for this.
When it comes time to vote on November 2 you have to decide which side are you on, the side of the working class or the side of those who steal from, kill, imprison and stack the odds against the working/middle class. Main street or Wall street. You choose.
