Help needed

13 October, 2008 (13:00) | Computer

If you are an Hardy Heron user I need some help. When I shut down my system last night everything was working fine. This morning when I booted recommended some updates so I installed them in the background while doing other things (which is to say I don’t know what all got updated). Right afterwards I discovered I could no longer view any flash files, and in fact trying to do so in Firefox causes FF to stop working (it can be closed but it won’t restart without rebooting the system). Same in Opera except Opera can be closed and restarted. Trying to view a local flash video via Totem I get an error message that an html/text plugin is missing but I have no idea which one (all plugins listed in Totem are enabled).

I have removed the Macromedia flash plugin and reinstalled it but that didn’t help. Same with reinstalling java.

Anyone got any ideas?
