One of the points made in this clip is that people can, and do, recover from mental illness. That’s important to remember as you go through your daily life. It’s a lesson I’ve often forgotten, much to my shame, as it made me less patient with those who needed patience more than most. Conservative politicians, who under the cover of fiscal responsibility, have slashed funds repeatedly for mental health. It’s all part of their need to punish those that are different. It’s happened here in Canada and it has certainly happened in the US especially under Reagan and the Bush regimes. Mentally ill people tossed out to live on the streets as best they can, returning vets tormented by the wars they foolishly believed were right because the Bushes and the Cheneys of this world lied to them and told them it was for freedom and democracy. That’s the world we live in and these tortured souls deserve compassion and help.

Well done Ms. Close
