This is the second year for this pagan/wiccan festival held here in, unfortuately this year soggy, Rossland. The rain has been intense with scattered sun showers but it hasn't dampened the spirits of the approx 50 people (including younguns) attending this year. This is more than a 2 fold increase over last year's attendence so needless to say my wife Silverheart who started this festival is quite pleased. I much prefer these small festivals to larger ones like D'fest
It is quite an eclectic crowd with shamans, healers, Gardnerians, solitaires and everything in between. Last night just before opening ritual Silverheart and I were asked to be witnesses for a first degree initiation, which was quite an unexpected honour.
We have rented a Girl Guide camp for the weekend - 40 acres of forest with a main lodge, a dining hall and a half dozen or so cabins (yeah we're surprised they rented it to us too - but what the heck we left the place in better shape than we found it last year so maybe they were impressed. Lots of people are tenting though - good business for the tarp purveyors this year :-).
Today I held a paper lantern making workshop. I only expected two or three people at most would be interested but I ended up with seven and a lineup of about the same (I only had enough supplies for seven at a time). So tomorrow I'll hold a repeat workshop for those who couldn't participate today.
It should look really cool tomorrow night with a dfozen or so people walking the labyrinth with glowing paper lanterns :-)
One of the shamans has set up a sweat lodge so I may find the time tomorrow to participate in that. All in all a fun time is being had by all.
