Now this I will HAVE to see! I can't wait. I like his cast choices too.
Coppola prepares to hit the road By Hugh Davies, Entertainment Correspondent (Filed: 27/08/2002)
Francis Ford Coppola is close to realising his dream of following his Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now by filming On The Road, Jack Kerouac's epic 1957 novel of the Beat Generation....Telegraph
Billy Crudup and Brad Pitt are being lined up to star in the film which will be directed by Joel Schumacher, noted for Flatliners with Julia Roberts, The Client, based on the John Grisham thriller, and Falling Down, starring Michael Douglas.Posted by The Dynamic Driveler at August 26, 2002 07:52 PM
i want to know when the film will begin shhooting.
Posted by: adele mckeehan on April 7, 2003 06:52 PMI think it would be a terrible mistake to cast Brad Pitt in any role indeed...Kerouac would have hated it. They should find a totally unknown cast, actors who would be able to re-create a unique atmosphere, not bloody make box office millions!!
Posted by: Nia on September 18, 2003 08:47 AMare you kidding me... pitt would be perfect for the role of dean... get the fuck out of here. seven? snatch? fight club? I couldn't think of anyone better for the role.
Posted by: Anonymous on November 9, 2003 09:19 PMAfter thinking about it I tend to agree with Nia. Kerouac wuold not be impressed. Using unknown actors (so long as they are good actors) would be truer to the felling of Kerouac's work than using stars. I don'r want to go to it to see Brad Pitt. I don't want that distraction. I wantto go to it and drown myself in the 'road" experience. You can't do that when it's more about the star than it is about the movie and the screenplay.
Posted by: The Dynamic Driveler on November 9, 2003 09:28 PMTO MAKE A MOVIE OF SUCH A CLASSIC BOOK IS QUITE A DARING BUT NEVERTHELESS DODGY MOVE BY THESE FILMMAKERS, I TOO HOPE THEY DON'T FUCK IT UP. THEY NEED HELP FROM SOME OF THE LAST EXISTING ORIGINAL BEAT MEMBERS, E.G. MICHAEL MCCLURE TO ENSURE AUTHENTICITY. FINGERS CROSSED HOLLYWOOD DOESN'T SATURATE THIS FILM WITH ITS' USUAL GROTESQUE GLITZ. ALSO NEW ACTORS WOULD BE PERFECT, NO STARS...THINK HOW MANY DREAMS WOULD BE SHATTERED BY CASTING E.G. TOM HANKS AS JACK-BULLSHIT!!
