Here’s another Internet meme passed on by Stu. The list below is 100 books most often marked as “unread” by LibraryThing’s users. That is, you own them but haven’t read them. Here’s the deal. Put this list on your website and then bold the ones you have read on your own, italicize the ones you [...]

Professor Fumolatro and The Veritas League

This site is one of the more interesting uses of Flickr I’ve seen yet. It combines group photography with a serial novel - action adventure - written by the participants as they go.
This is a participatory serial photo-blog chronicling the lamentably fictional adventures of Professor Angelus P. Fumolatro, steampunk renaissance man, and his companions the [...]

Shortly before he died this week, Aurthur C. Clarke agreed to an interview with Saswato R. Das and parts of that interview can be read at Final Thoughts From Aurthur C. Clarke
It’s a very good tribute to Clarke. I got a big lick out of his final comment which I’ve emphasized below.
Before he died, his [...]

A Note of Thanks

Back in September ‘07 I asked if anyone could spare me a copy of Joe Bageant’s Deer Hunting With Jesus. Two days ago I received a copy from fellow blogger Jon Husband of Wirearchy. Thanks Jon!
Now, it’s going to take me a few months to read this as there’s a lot of bad health shit [...]

Another great writer gone too soon.
The year was 1963. I was 13 yrs old and laying in a bed in the pediatrics ward of St. Vincents Hospital in Vancouver, fighting for my life. My older brother (at the time 17) came in one day to visit and dropped off a bunch of books for me [...]
