Footprints

A thousand dancers shimmer in a pool
Silver bodies waver in the light
			Mystic sounds of water falling
			Shatter through the night

In waxened glow of pale moonlight
Sounds of footprints could be heard
The dancers danced on through the night
			Life completes it's circle there

			Sounds of footprints closer yet
			Kiss the barren earth below
Bring them nearer to the pool
Where dancers shimmer in moonlit glow

Packing canes of glass and paste
			Nylon thread on metal wheels
			Squirming worms fear their fate
Time will tell in the end

Now it stands along the bank
			Casting string upon the poool
			Silver bodies rush to feast
Upon the worm thrown at those fools.
