Thanks ThirdWheel – I’ve been on-net since ’92 – 18 years and I’m a cranky old bastard (61) – I expect people who comment to at least show a smidgen of intelligence and, for this site, a great bit of humour. In those 18 years I have seen it all, from the greatest flame wars Fidonet and Newsnet ever produced to tremendously erudite scholarship. In the process I have run out of patience for those whose idea of “being helpful” is to comment on shit they clearly do not understand .

Well Doug I found your site by looking for humor with Metacrawler and I’m glad I did. Thanks for your work on this, I am enjoying it. You are absolutely right about the ignorance of some assholes. I wasn’t being a douche he was – he decided to insult me but in doing so he showed zero knowledge of how the net works. It’s clearly explained on the front page that I’m in the process of moving the site and sorry a lot of links from SU are simply not going to work as they are pointing to my old site. More explanation than that I don’t feel needs to be given to someone who won’t stand behind their comment by identifying themselves. I get a lot of traffic from SU – I use SU myself but I did not design this site for anyone other than myself. If others find it fun, useful, entertaining, whatever great more power to them, they are more than welcome – just don’t dis me in the process or you’ll get the same in reply. Get it?

Doug, Stumbleupon is a large source of traffic for many sites. Most people like incoming traffic, something about wanting people to read the meaningless dribble they post, and also that without traffic your advertisers won’t pay you. If you’re going to both ignore helpful advice and be a douche about it, you probably don’t deserve to be heard anyway.
