Contributor: Cheryl Linkletter

Serves:8

A great pizza dough recipe by a friend of Diane

Ingredients:

chili icon i Tbsp Dry Active Yeast
chili icon 1/4 C. warm water (body temperature)
chili icon 1 1/4 Tsp. Sugar
chili icon 1 C. Milk
chili icon 1 Tsp. Salt
chili icon 1/8 Tsp. Baking Powder
chili icon 3 C. All Purpose Flour

Method:

  1. Dissolve sugar in water, add yeast, let stand 10 minutes until bubbly, then stir well
  2. Combine milk and salt in saucepan. Heat over low heat until warm (105F ~ 115F or 40C ~ 46C)
  3. Pour milk mixture and yeast into a large bowl. Add 1 1/2 C. flour combined with baking soda. Mix until smooth
  4. Stir in enough flour to make a stiff batter. Dough will be sticky.
  5. Press dough into oiled and cornmeal coated pizza pans. Coat hands with flour to prevent sticking (this is just the right amount for a 14" pizza stone)
  6. Brush with extra virgin olive oil
  7. Let rise in a warm place for 10 minutes
  8. Add your choice of toppings, bake at 400F or 200C for 20 ~ 25 minutes or until edge of crust is lightly browned
