A great pizza dough recipe by a friend of Diane
Ingredients:
 |
i Tbsp Dry Active Yeast |
 |
1/4 C. warm water (body temperature) |
 |
1 1/4 Tsp. Sugar |
 |
1 C. Milk |
 |
1 Tsp. Salt |
 |
1/8 Tsp. Baking Powder |
 |
3 C. All Purpose Flour |
Method:
- Dissolve sugar in water, add yeast, let stand 10 minutes until bubbly, then stir well
- Combine milk and salt in saucepan. Heat over low heat until warm (105F ~ 115F or 40C ~ 46C)
- Pour milk mixture and yeast into a large bowl. Add 1 1/2 C. flour combined with baking soda. Mix until smooth
- Stir in enough flour to make a stiff batter. Dough will be sticky.
- Press dough into oiled and cornmeal coated pizza pans. Coat hands with flour to prevent sticking (this is just the right amount for a 14" pizza stone)
- Brush with extra virgin olive oil
- Let rise in a warm place for 10 minutes
- Add your choice of toppings, bake at 400F or 200C for 20 ~ 25 minutes or until edge of crust is lightly browned
